A quieter winter routine

Let the conditions in your room set the pace.

In many homes, shorter days and weaker light slow plant growth. Check moisture before watering rather than continuing a summer schedule automatically. Indoor heating can also dry the air or warm a particular pot, so two plants in the same room may behave differently.

Keep leaves away from cold window glass and hot radiators. Clean accessible windows and remove accumulated dust from suitable leaves so the available light can reach them. Review feeding against visible growth and the species requirements. Artificial lighting, climate and indoor temperature can change the picture considerably; the calendar alone does not tell you whether a plant is actively growing.
