Rotate with purpose

A small turn can become part of a useful observation routine.

Plants often develop unevenly when most of their light comes from one side. If balanced growth is your aim, try small, occasional rotations and watch the response. Before moving a pot, check whether leaves are touching the glass or pressing against a wall.

Rotation is not a substitute for enough light. Long, weak growth or a plant leaning persistently toward the window calls for a closer look at its location. Keep room for new leaves rather than fitting the existing foliage tightly into a shelf. Some plants dislike changes during flowering, so check the needs of the particular species before making a habit of moving it.
